Los Angeles" by Bob Willoughby,
1951, from the Collection of
Sir Elton John

For more than a decade Elton John has been building a photography collection of more than 2,500 works in a wide range of themes and styles, by some of the twentieth century's most renowned photographers.

Chorus of Light : Photographs from the Sir Elton John Collection features more than 300 works encompassing a wide range of periods, styles, and subjects. The work of renowned photographers, such as Diane Arbus, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Walker Evans, Edward Weston, Man Ray, Alfred Stieglitz, and others will be on view.

Chorus of Light : Photographs from the Sir Elton John Collection reveals a more private side to some of the most dynamic artists and entertainers of the 20th century. It features an outstanding combination of acclaimed photographers and superstar subjects. Highlights include: Irving Penn's powerful close-up study of the hands of legendary jazz man Miles Davis, Richard Avedon's head-on Beatles' series, and Edward Steichen's evocative portrait of 1930s film star Gloria Swanson veiled in sheer fabric.
