How do I use Personal Advisor?

Personal Advisor is an information auction service. You submit questions directly to our Experts Network and set the price and due date for your answer. Our experts will bid against one another to answer your question. Ultimately, you decide who answers your question and how much you want to pay for that answer.

What types of service can I request?

You can request any service you want, provided that it falls within one of our 12 categories. Please remember that requesting a service does not guarantee that it will be provided. An expert must bid on your service request and you must accept that expert's bid in order to receive the service. View our sample requests for ideas.

How much does Personal Advisor cost?

For each request you submit, you indicate the price you are willing to pay. For this premium service, we have a minimum bid of $50.00 and a maximum bid of $1000.00. Please note that an expert can bid over or under your original asking price but you are not required to accept any bid that you do not want.

When will I receive an answer to my service request?

When you submit your request, you also select the due date for your answer. Please include time for the bidding process when setting your due date. Your request will be answered only if an expert bids on your request and you accept that expert's bid.

How should I title my request?

Your title should be a few keywords that describe your request, as this is the first thing our experts will see. Avoid using the title field to describe your full request.

What kind of description should I provide?

Please include as much information as possible when describing your question. Use this field to also indicate specific information you'd like the expert to include in your answer, like links to web sites, titles of specific books, or the locations of particular galleries.

Can I submit a picture with my request?

Yes, there is a field on the Ask A Question form for uploading a picture. The field will only accept hyperlinks, so your picture must be stored on a web site. Please make sure your picture is in a .jpg or .gif format.
