Billy Wilder's Art Collection Honors the Female Form

Fernando Boteros' 'Reclining Woman'.

Fernando Boteros' Reclining Woman.

More than 30 pieces from legendary 20th-century filmmaker Billy Wilder's private collection were featured in Christie's Twentieth Century Art auction and Twentieth Century Prints and Multiples sale.

Like his movies, which include such classics as The Seven Year Itch starring Marilyn Monroe, and Sabrina starring Audrey Hepburn, Wilder's art collection reveals his appreciation of the beautiful female form. Works from the auction include Picasso 's Femme au bras gauche leve and Fernando Boteros' bronze sculpture Reclining Woman.

Highlights from Wilder's collection in the Prints and Multiples sale include a rare hand-colored lithograph by David Hockney, and a selection of prints by Lichtenstein, Wesselmann, and other famous 20th-century artists.
